Objective

The overall project purpose was to strengthen the capacity of the involved institutions to protect intellectual and industrial property rights. The project improved the methodologies, working methods and communication among the institutions involved in the project. It increased the level of skills and knowledge of the human resources involved in IP protection and it raised awareness among consumers on protection of IP.

Summary

The project included the following activities:

1) Development of method for improved cooperation between involved institutions

2) Revision of legislation and manual

3) Development of improved work-flows and procedures

4) Development of method to estimate piracy rate

5) Development of medium and long term training plans for institutions

6) Training-of-trainers

7) Training of staff in all institutions

8) Development of common IT database

9) Awareness raising activities

Experts from Germany, UK, Ireland and Danish customs and police were involved in the project.
