Objective

The project's overall objective was to improve the enforcement of intellectual and industrial property rights (IPRs) in Turkey, and to align it to EU rules and practices.

The purpose of the project was to strengthen administrative and technical capacity of the Turkish Police in the enforcement of intellectual and industrial property rights and to enhance co-ordination and co-operation with other enforcement bodies and right owner associations.

Summary

The project included the following activities:

1) Enhancing technical and administrative capacity of IPR Offices of Turkish National Police.

2) Raising awareness of police officers on counterfeiting and piracy

3) Improving co-ordination and cooperation among relevant units of the police and other IPR shareholders (Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Undersecretaries of Customs, Turkish Patent Institute and Collecting Societies).

Experts on IPR enforcement from Hungary, UK, Belgium and other EU countries was involved in the project.
