- Successful seminar for prosecutors in China

The EU-China IPR2 project is an excellent opportunity for DKPTO to contribute to the establishment of a good IP enforcement system in China. As Danish companies are competing in a global economy, it is essential that they can protect their knowledge and enforce their intellectual property rights world-wide. This is only possible if the laws and procedures on IPR are clear and the companies know what to do if they are infringed.

In the project we have cooperated with the Supreme People's Procuratorate on the implementation of seminars for local prosecutors on experiences and best practices of criminal IPR enforcement and the transfer of cases from administrative to criminal enforcement agencies.

Over 200 prosecutors from all major Procuratorates have been trained, and not only have their qualifications on IPR been improved, -the trainings have also made it possible for Chinese prosecutors and our Danish enforcement expert to share best practices on criminal  enforcement.

In the trainings, a comprehensive overview of the status of protection and trends in the development regarding the protection of IPR were given. Actual cases have were reviewed, and there was a good discussion between the Chinese and foreign prosecutors.

“The trainings were very successful. Participating in international projects is not always about teaching what you know best to others, but more a question of sharing knowledge and best practices in order to develop a good IP infrastructure world-wide”, says Erling Vestergaard, enforcement expert at DKPTO.
